FORMER Charlton striker Jay Bothroyd is having a trial with rivals Crystal Palace after his release by the Addicks in May.

The 24-year-old former Arsenal, Coventry and Verona player was among the first to depart after Iain Dowie's appointment as Alan Curbishley's successor.

The striker scored six goals in four starts last season.
