Gillingham 1 - 0 Swindon Town

GILLINGHAM go into the break leading 1-0 against Swindon at Priestfield thanks to a goal from striker Darren Byfield.

The Gills took a deserved lead on 19 minutes when Swindon keeper Rhys Evans failed to deal with a deflected Alan Pouton cross from the right and allowed Byfield to outjump him and head into the net for his sixth goal of the campaign.

The visitors were almost level immediately when Jamie Cureton got in behind the recalled Ian Cox, but his shot was well saved by Gillingham keeper Jason Brown.

Former Gills player Paul Smith is on the bench for Swindon and could make an appearance in the second half.

Gillingham: Brown, Clohessy, Cox, Johnson, Jackman, Spiller, Crofts, Flynn, Pouton, Harris, Byfield.
Subs: Crichton, Hope, Sancho, Wallis, Grant.
