REIGNING Kent Messenger Sunshine Challenge golf champion Gary Tottman is through to the last 16 of this year's competition.

The five-handicapper from Canterbury beat Boughton's Mitchell Weatherley (h13) 3&2 in round-up.

He now faces another difficult game when he travels to play 12-handicapper Ivor Graham at Bearsted.

Gary's father David, also a former winner of the tournament, beat fellow Canterbury member Patrick Goode (h15) and will now play Martin Denison Gall (h17, Boughton).

The winner of the event will represent the KM against other regional newspaper winners in Portugal in November.
