Chats appoint new chairman

BANK executive Frank Skinner is the new chairman of Chatham Town FC. The 10-strong committee of the Dr Martens League, Eastern Division club has voted in Mr Skinner as successor to Peter Enright who is stepping down after 11 years.

Mr Skinner, who has served on Chatham's committee for three years, was formerly involved with Bredhurst Juniors and Chatham's junior sides.

Mr Enright welcomed the appointment. He said: "Frank is very capable and was my recommendation. I'm delighted he has accepted the job."

Mr Enright, who is the Kent County Football Association's director of finance, will remain on the club's committee. He added: "There is no mystery about me standing down because I gave notice of my intentions a year ago. I've enjoyed my time as chairman but after 11 years I felt it right that I stood down in favour of someone else."

Chatham have confirmed that their annual presentations will be held at Gillingham's Franklin Rooms on Saturday, June 1.
