COOPER: "The fans have been great and we understand the frustration"

GILLINGHAM manager Neale Cooper has refused to criticise the club's supporters after his team were booed off after their 3-0 defeat against Barnsley at Priestfield.

Cooper said: "We’re all disappointed, we know the fans were disappointed the other night but we’ve got to turn it around.

"As the game went on the other night the fans got frustrated and maybe one or two of the younger lads took that to heart.

"The fans have been great and we understand the frustration but we can’t sit down and give up. We’ve got to turn things round."

Trinidad & Tobago international Cox added: "The supporters here act as a 12th man and we need them to get behind us.

"To be fair they have got behind us for the last few weeks and to a certain extent we’ve let them down. All we can do is go back to the training ground and start from scratch."
