GILLINGHAM may be without a League 1 game this weekend but there has been no let-up for the players.

Those not on international duty or injured have been working hard on the training field.

Neale Cooper’s side have had a mixed start to the season and he said: "We need to get everyone fit and back

competing for places.

"We’ve been training the boys hard and keeping them fit, with those injured working with the physio."

A blank Saturday suits Cooper as he has a host of injured players. And he’s avoided the temptation of organising a friendly in case any more players pick up knocks.

He added: "We have to watch the boys because we don’t have many bodies about at the moment."
