Cup joy for Gills

Gillingham 3 Charlton 2

GILLINGHAM caused another FA Cup upset at Priestfield when they swept aide Premiership high-fliers Charlton.

The chance of a giant-killing looked remote, however, when Ian Cox turned a Paul Konchesky cross into his own net in the first minute.

But Gillingham bounced back and equalised in the 17th minute when Tommy Johnson drilled a low shot under Charlton keeper Dean Kiely.

Just two minutes later and the Gills were ahead, with Mamady Sidibe heading home from the edge of the box.

Paul Smith made it 3-1 after 34 minutes when he shot home from 30 yards and Gillingham would have extended their lead further in thr second half if it hadn't been for some fine saves from Kiely.

Carlton Cole the set up an exciting final two minutes when he pulled a goal back but Gillingham held out for a well deserved victory.
