Newcastle v Charlton

CHARLTON are looking to improve on a dismal record against Newcastle whom they have not beaten, home or away, in seven Premiership attempts since the 2000-01 season when the Addicks completed a home and away double over the Magpies.

Alan Curbishley's side were looking to bounce straight back from the disappointment of Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat by Liverpool to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for Europe.

The Charlton manager has sprung a surprise by recalling Chris Perry, who has not played since sustaining a groin injury against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

Winger Jerome Thomas is missing from the side through illness while midfielder Bryan Hughes and central defender Jonathan Fortune were left out.

Dennis Rommedahl was recalled along with Radostin Kishishev.

Charlton: Kiely, Young, El Karkouri, Perry, Hreidarsson, Holland, Kishishev, Murphy, Konchesky, Rommedahl, Bartlett.
