CHARLTON striker Chris Dickson could miss the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury in a freak accident in a hotel reception area.

Manager Alan Pardew fears the 23-year-old Plumstead born youngster could be out for two months.

As a result, he blocked last week’s proposed loan of fellow striker Izale McLeod to Leeds United.

“Those who know Chris will not be surprised to learn that he was dancing around at the time when he slipped,” said Pardew.

“Unfortunately, he could be out for a fair amount of time.”

Dickson, who spent three months on loan at Gillingham earlier in the season, remains the club’s leading scorer with 11 goals.

Pardew disclosed that 20-year-old striker James Walker, whose £200,000 move to Southend last month broke down after he failed a medical, was having a heart condition closely monitored.

“James had a history of a minor heart problem when he joined the Academy,” said Pardew. “We are extremely conscious of the need to get this right.

“Initially a London consultant said that he was fine. Then another voiced concerns.

“So we’re not going to let him play until we get third and fourth medical opinions. We’re in no rush but it is a worry for the player and his family.

“He certainly will not be going to Southend.”
