Doncaster 2 - Gillingham 0

GILLINGHAM were dumped out of the Carling Cup after conceding two late goals at Doncaster.

Substitute striker Paul Heffernan hit the target in the 84th and 89th minute to seal the win for a dominant home side.

Doncaster wasted a string of glorious opportunities to win the third round tie, as their passing football left Gillingham chasing the game.

The visitors defended resolutely and could have sneaked a winner in the second half when their own substitute, Matt Jarvis, twice hit shots wide of the mark.

Gillingham can have no complaints at the loss, while the injury problems mounted further still, when Steven Hislop leaving the field with a groin problem.

Team: Bullock, Williams, Cox, Crofts, Hessenthaler (Saunders 78), Hislop (Jarvis 56), Flynn, Jackman (Corneille 87), Hope, Wallis, Collin. Subs Not Used: Crichton, Rose.
