KENT sailor Sophie Ainsworth scooped a double gold at the 29er world championships in Argentina.

Sophie, from Wye, near Ashford, and helm Sophie Weguelin from Lymington, Hampshire, became ladies world champions and Under-19 world champions on the same day.

The two former rivals joined forces only six months ago. It was the first international competition for the new pairing.

Ainsworth, 17, called the achievement "fantastic".
