Dynamos snap up Slovakian centreman

INVICTA DYNAMOS head coach Kevin Parrish has strengthened his playing squad with the signing of Slovakian Tomas Hentek.

Hentek will go straight into the squad to face Solent & Gosport Sharks in the English National Ice Hockey League at the Gillingham Ice Bowl on Sunday.

The 23-year-old has been brought in as a straight replacement for Ken Forshee, who retired from the Dynamos following the club's 9-1 win over Haringey Greyhounds in the ENIHL Cup on Sunday.

Hentek is a centreman who has been playing in the Slovakian 1st League.

Parrish said: "He's staying at mine until a flat is ready for him to move into. It's good that he can spend a few weeks at mine as it means he has got time to get used to the language and everything.

"The Slovakian 1st League is in between the EPL and the Elite League so he has been playing to a good standard. He has come over here to put himself in the shop window and I'm quite happy with that.

"If he likes it and likes what we're doing then he might stay. Tomas touches and shoots the puck well which is what I would expect from a player coming out of his league."

Invicta return to action against Solent on Sunday in the English National League, South B.

Parrish said: "We have got to put a good show on and give our fans some entertainment. I don't want us to get too big for our boots but we are a different class to what they are.

"They are a team who are going to struggle every year."

Tim Smith (arm) and Peter Korff (knee) are both expected to be rested.
