MARGATE ended a run of five games without a win, coming from behind to beat Leyton 5-1 at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday night.

The win keeps them on the fringe of the Ryman League Premier Division play-offs. More good news was that rivals Bromley lost at Harrow and Billericay only drew at strugglers Walton and Hersdham.

Dean Palmer put the East London club ahead as early as the 14th minute, but goals by James Pinnock, Danny Hockton, Justin Skinner, Jay Saunders and substitute Nick Bagley helped Gate to their first win since early February.

The result leaves them sixth five points behind leaders Chelmsford.
