FOOTBALL Association chiefs have asked former Charlton manager Alan Curbishley for evidence following allegations in his forthcoming autobiography that he was offered a bung by a players’ agent.

In the book, to be published on August 21, Curbishley alleges: "Only once in all the discussions I’ve had with agents was I asked if I wanted anything out of a deal.

"The person involved told me what his fee would be and suggested he could add a bit on top for me."

Curbishley also tells of one Premiership chief executive, known as ‘Father Christmas’ because whenever agents went to see him to do a deal, they always came out smiling with what they had been offered."

An FA spokesman said: "If Alan Curbishley wants to provide us with evidence to support this claim, we will look into it thoroughly."
