Fans' group warns of ground sale

MEMBERS of the Gills Independent Supporters’ Club have warned of the perils the football club will face should Priestfield ever be sold to combat present financial problems.

In a statement, the GISC pledged their full support to the efforts of the football club, its management, staff and all other supporters' bodies to help solve the financial crisis facing the club.

In a statement issued by chairman Mike Keskeys on behalf of the GISC committee, he declares: “The GISC will play its part, as before, in the combined efforts of all parties to see the club through these worrying days.

“Whatever financial situation Gillingham Football Club finds itself in, the sale, leasing or mortgaging of Priestfield Stadium to a holding company, developer or financier must never be considered.

“The examples of Maidstone United and Brighton and Hove Albion show all too clearly where this course of action leads.

“We urge the 40,000 who cheered Gillingham into Division 1 at Wembley to fill Priestfield to capacity at every match this season. Supporting your team is not just for the important matches - it’s for life.”
