Fans' patience is running thin, says Gills fanzine editor

GILLINGHAM'S fanzine editor Eddie Allcorn has criticised an attack on club chairman Paul Scally's car, but he warned that people's patience is running out.

Mr Allcorn said he was shocked to hear that a rock had been thrown at Mr. Scally's car, while his three-year-old daughter was in it, after the Gills' 3-0 defeat by Crewe on Saturday.

He said: "It was totally unacceptable and 99.9 per cent of people would say it was just not on. But I think people's patience is wearing pretty thin with Scally and they hold him responsible for much of the state of the football club.

"When the third goal went in on Saturday there was a sizeable minority calling on him to go. There were calls for Stimson to go too, but not in the same way."

Mr Allcorn said opinion was divided over Mark Stimson continuing as Gills' manager. "There are those who still quite like him," he said. "However he is not helping himself by not playing Simeon Jackson and continuing with strikers incapable of scoring goals."

He added: "We have to draw a line under what happened last Saturday. But if we don't get six points from our next two games against Bournemouth and Port Vale we could easily be cut adrift and with the tough last few games it might be beyond us."
