Fleet secure away day win

Weymouth 0 Ebbsfleet 2

Ebbsfleet banished the memory of the heavy defeat to Histon with a 2-0 Blue Square Premier win at relegation-threatened Weymouth on Saturday.

The Fleet started well and were ahead as early as the fifth minute when Giuseppe Sole broke into the penalty area and his cutback was slid in at the near post by Ricky Shakes.

The lead was doubled on 11 minutes when Kezie Ibe nodded in Michael West's cross from close range.

Ebbsfleet could have increased their advantage in the second half.

West shot just wide with Ibe waiting to pounce and keeper Adam Legzdins tipped Sole's goal-bound free-kick over the bar.

The result makes it mathematically certain the Fleet will play in the Blue Square Premier next season.
