Gate's Braithwaite grabs late decider

Burton Albion 0 Margate 1

LEON BRAITHWAITE held his nerve to secure a controversial injury-time victory for Margate at Burton on Saturday.

The match was three minutes into stoppage time when home defender Colin Hoyle was adjudged by the linesman to have handled John Keister’s goalbound shot.

Burton protested furiously but once the furore had died down Braithwaite confidently beat the keeper away to his right to record his eighth goal of the Nationwide Conference campaign.

In a game of few chances, Margate had just about held the edge with John Keister having their best opportunity before the goal when he headed over from close range midway through the second half.

Burton’s big guns, Andy Sinton, and Lee Glover, struggled to get into the game, with the Margate defence, led by Sam Sodje, outstanding.
