Gillingham have boosted their attacking options by signing Brentford striker Antonio German for a nominal fee.

The 21-year-old made seven appearances for the Gills during a one-month loan spell last season.

"He will be pushed and pressured into the toughest pre-season, both mentally and physically, to maximise his undoubted ability."

German scored in the 2-1 win against Plymouth but he was recalled by Brentford at the end of March.

However, he got just 23 minutes of first-team football with the Bees before the end of the season.

Gillingham boss Martin Allen said: “He was deemed not good enough for Brentford and it’s my job to help him, support him and guide him in the right direction, to help himself and of course score goals for Gillingham Football Club.

“He proved, in that pivotal game against Plymouth, where he scored one goal and made one, that he can do it.

“He doesn’t know it yet but he will be pushed and pressured into the toughest pre-season, both mentally and physically, to maximise his undoubted ability.”

German began his career at QPR and was loaned out to Aldershot, Southend and Yeovil.
