Gillingham's 3-0 defeat at Exeter left manager Mark Stimson questioning the ability of some of his players.

He will be looking closely at certain individuals and making a decision on whether they have what it takes to succeed in League 2.

Stimson said: “We’ve given certain players a certain amount of chances and it might be a shock to some people that we will have to change things in certain areas.

“Some people aren’t doing what they should be doing.

“I think the squad is capable if they do what we ask them to do. That’s to be bright and all want the ball, be busy and move around.

“It’s easy for players to say they’ll do that but I keep looking at videos and dvds and I can say well, ‘you aren’t really doing that. You’re doing that 70 per cent and are there reasons for that?’ There are for certain players.

“It’s hard because the boys have looked good in training and all looked bright. They’ve all taken onboard the ideas we wanted them to do but now it’s about taking that onto the pitch.

“Are we asking certain players to do things that possibly they can’t do? That’s something I’ll have a look at on the dvd.

"If they are not going to be honest enough to say they can’t do it then I will make the decision to pick a team that I think can.”
