Gills confirm Jackson bid

MANAGER Mark Stimson has confirmed that Gillingham have made a bid for Rushden striker Simeon Jackson.

The 20-year-old, who was at Gills as a youngster, has struck 14 goals this season but Stimson is still waiting to hear back from the Blue Square Premier side.

Stimson said: "We’ve put a bid in for him. Like with Stuart Fleetwood, we’re waiting for clubs to come back to us and say yes or no. At the moment they’re just saying they want more money.

"We’re not going to give any more. We have put our bid in and just want an answer from them.

"Either ‘Yes they are going to let us talk to the player and discuss terms’ or ‘No, it’s not enough, go away and try someone else’."

A number of clubs are believed to be interested in Jackson, with Peterborough, Colchester and Nottingham Forest also keen on the forward.
