Gills handed Johnstone's Paint Trophy home tie

Gillingham will face a home tie against League 1 side Colchester in the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The Gills have already faced Colchester once at Priestfield this season when they were beaten 1-0 in the League Cup first round.

Last season the Gills reached the area semi-final but were knocked out on penalties by the eventual winners MK Dons.

Gillingham were one of a number of clubs given a bye in the opening round. The tie will be played on week commencing, October 6.
