GILLINGHAM players Ian Cox and Brent Sancho face a battle to make the World Cup finals after being over-looked for Trinidad’s forthcoming friendly match.

The pair were not selected by manager Leo Beenhakker for the squad to face Iceland at QPR’s Loftus Road on February 28 as preparations continue for the finals.

Beenhakker insists everyone still has a chance, as he looks far and wide for eligible players, and it looks as though both players will have plenty to do to make the final 23-man squad.

He said: “Having to give other players a chance means that for this game several usual players like Kelvin Jack, Ian Cox, Brent Sancho, Densill Theobald and Jason Scotland among others, are not invited.

“I informed most of them and want to explain to everybody that the door is far from closed for these players, so they have to keep their eyes on the ball.

“I want to have a good overview of all available players just to make the right decisions at the moment to make the final choice of the 23 players who will represent T&T in Germany.
