THE Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey squad returns to action on Sunday as the club stages Andy Martin’s testimonial match.

Mos’ competitive season starts next weekend but Sunday will be an afternoon of celebration in honour of one of the squad's longest-serving players. The face-off is at 5.15pm.

Martin arrived at Gillingham in the 1989-90 season during the club’s heyday, when they were playing as the Medway Bears.

And on Sunday, he will lead a hand-picked side out at the Gillingham Ice Bowl to face the current Dynamos team.

Martin, who joined the Bears from British Hockey League Premier Division side Ayr, is really looking forward to Sunday’s event.

He stressed: "It’s just lovely to be given the chance to have this testimonial and I’m hoping to get a big crowd in, with the old Bears supporters together with some of the new Dynamos supporters as well."

With his playing career now over, Martin will now be concentrating on the under-16s this season.
