Ice men go for four on the trot

THE Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey team aim to make it four wins in a row this weekend in the league and get some valuable experience in the English National Premier League Cup against old adversaries, the Isle of Wight Raiders.

Now called the Wightlink Raiders, the Islanders are coming off a five-game unbeaten streak in which they have scored 44 times.

Mos player-coach Phil Chard said: “Those results are against the weaker teams but unfortunately we’re going to be under-strength on Saturday. My wife is expecting a baby any day and Isle of Wight is one place I can’t get back from if the time comes.” Kevin Parrish, AJ Smith and Damien Welch are also missing.

Last Sunday, Mos edged past Milton Keynes Thunder 2-1. Milton Keynes got the only goal of the first period but Chard pulled the scores level at 38.55.

Smith won the game in the 52nd minute by taking the puck around Mark Woolf and scoring.

Streatham Redskins provide the opposition on Sunday in the English National League (South).
