Iffy: Please sort out my contract

STRIKER Iffy Onuora is warning chairman Paul Scally to get contracts sorted or risk losing a large chunk of the squad.

Onuora has expressed his disappointment that he hasn’t been given another deal and claims that he and other players in the same position could be forced to move on in the summer. The 34-year-old is a crowd favourite and with 10 goals so far this season is an important part of Andy Hessenthaler’s plans.

With transfer funds likely to be minimal given the crisis at ITV Digital, it will be more important than ever than for Gills to hang on to their established players or be forced to start cashing in some of their prized assets.

Onuora said: “I feel a little disappointed if I'm honest. It was mentioned earlier this season, way back in October, about giving me an extra year on my deal.

“Me and the gaffer spoke and we're happy about an extra year but nothing has happened.

“Everyone knows the situation at the club. The chairman deals with everything in terms of contracts and if he’s not around things don't get done and there are half a dozen players in the same situation.

“It may well be that players move on, myself included. I don’t know what's going to happen and where it will end, your guess is as good as mine.”
