Injury-hit Wallace leaves Priestfield

STRIKER Rod Wallace has left Gillingham by mutual consent after two disappointing seasons dogged by injury.

Signed in summer 2002 on a two-year deal, the striker scored 12 goals in 36 league appearances, nine of those as a substitute.

Chairman Paul Scally said: “Rod is a gifted player and could have brought so much to our squad but injuries stifled his opportunities here.”

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler added: “He's a clever player who brought a

different dimension to the club.

"No-one is more disappointed than I am

that we were unable to see him at his best in a Gillingham shirt.”
