Jepson praises hosts' rearguard action

JEPSON: "They defended for their lives"

Brentford 2 Gillingham 2

GILLINGHAM boss Ronnie Jepson heaped praise on Brentford's resilience after they denied his side maximum points on Saturday.

Jepson’s men failed to take advantage of their hosts' misfortune, after Brentford were forced to play three-quarters of the match with an outfield player in goal.

He said: "They defended for their lives. When they were playing with 10 men, they had eight players defending, plus the keeper and it was hard to get any shots in at goal.

"We were getting the crosses in but we didn’t put away the things that dropped and I thought Brentford defended admirably and they deserve a bit of credit."
