Joy for Fleet on away day

Forest Green Rovers 1 Ebbsfleet United 4

Ebbsfleet got their second away victory of the season as they triumphed 4-1 at Forest Green Rovers in Blue Square Premier on Saturday.

The Fleet were in front as early as the third minute when Michael Gash broke forward and slipped in Neil Barrett who fired home from the edge of the box.

However, the lead evaporated almost immediately as Adriano Rigoglioso arrived in the area late to get on the end of Andrew Mangan's fifth-minute centre and beat Lance Cronin in the visitors' goal.

Rigoglioso almost put the home side ahead on the half hour mark but he was denied by a fine one-handed save by Cronin.

Luke Moore restored Ebbsfleet's advantage three minutes before the break when he cut inside from the right wing and drilled a shot across Rovers keeper Ryan Robinson.

They gave themselves some breathing space in the 66th minute when a fine move involving Jamie Hand and Barrett ended with Gash finishing superbly to make it 3-1.

And the points were wrapped up seven minutes from time when Luke Moore's floated corner was lofted back in by Hand and substitute Kezie Ibe popped up at the far post to net with his first touch.

To rub salt into the home side's wounds, Kaid Mohamed saw his 87th-minute spot-kick saved by Cronin after Paul McCarthy had been penalised for handball.

Fleet: Cronin, Ricketts, McCarthy, Charles, Opinel, Long (Stone 61), Hand, Barrett, Purcell (Shakes 46), Gash (Ibe 83), Moore. Subs not used: Mott, Pooley. Attendance: 1,272.
