Sheffield United 2 Charlton Athletic 1

CHARLTON are still searching for their first win under Les Reed after a dramatic defeat at fellow strugglers Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

The home side's Rob Hulse should have done better early on when he sent a close range header wide.

He was made to pay for that miss on 17 minutes when Andy Reid was on hand to score after Darren Ambrose's initial effort had been saved by Paddy Kenny.

Charlton were grateful to keeper Scott Carson for preserving their lead when he got down well to prevent Talal El Karkouri putting through his own net.

But he could do nothing on 64 minutes when defender Chris Morgan was in the right place to head home Keith Gillespie's corner and earn Sheffield United a point.

And Gillespie snatched the points for the home side in the 88th minute when he volleyed superbly into the corner from just outside the box.

Charlton: Carson, Young, El Karkouri, Hrediarsson, Traore, Rommedahl (M Bent 67), Faye (Sam 90), Holland, Ambrose (Kishishev 79), Reid, D Bent.
Subs not used: Myhre, Diawara.
