Match abandoned after team loses five men

REFEREE Paul Sellar was forced to abandon an eventful British Energy Kent County League Premier Division game after one of the sides had only six players left on the pitch.

Home team Norton Park were trailing 5-1 to Lewisham Borough but the result has still to be confirmed pending a Kent County Football Association disciplinary hearing, and the league will then decide whether to order the game to be replayed at a later date.

Norton had three players, Ben Taylor, Scott Appleton and Stuart Slater sent off, then lost substitute Harry Goodger with a knee injury, before Darren Slatter was unable to continue, leaving the West Wickham official with no alternative but to halt the game with 11 minutes of stoppage time left.

Jack Goodger scored Norton’s only goal of the game, with Steve Strutton and Marcus Dussard getting two each for Lewisham, and Lindsay Prescott the other.
