Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller is optimistic about seeing out the remainder of the season, despite needing a double hernia operation.

Miller went under the surgeon’s knife to fix an abductor injury last summer and will need another operation at the end of this campaign.

He said: "I don’t like going under the knife, but sometimes it has to be mind over matter.

"I don’t think it is affecting my performances of late and I’m pleased with what I’ve been doing.

"As soon as it does start affecting me then I think it would be time to go in and get the op done.

"But hopefully I can see it out until the end of the season then get it done in May.

"My general fitness and well being is good so I’d like to think that counter balances the slight niggle I’ve got in my stomach.

"Unless it really starts crippling me and I can’t move, then I’m honest enough as a person to say I’ve got to knock it on the head, because I’m not doing myself or the team any favours.

"But touch wood it will stay pain-free and I can get the operation done at the end of the season."
