More than 400 cars expected for autograss meet

INVICTA Kent Autograss Club are hosting the 2007 British Autograss Championship finals at Ivychurch Raceway on Romney Marsh on Saturday and Sunday.

The club are expecting more than 400 cars from all over England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and will be the biggest autograss meeting ever held in the South East.

With over 150 races and with most of the classes still to be decided it is expected to be a brilliant two days of racing.

Local drivers from Kent and Sussex will be taking on some of the best drivers in the UK.

Cars will vary from production Minis to twin engine/supercharged super saloons and ultra fast single-seater specials.

Speeds in excess of 70mph are likely on the super fast Ivychurch quarter mile dirt oval raceway.

There will be three heats and a final for all classes of cars in the men's ladies, junior saloons and junior specials classes.

The climax of the meeting will be the Champion of Champions race where the final winners from each class race against each other on a handicapped basis.

It is expected to produce some thrilling racing and a good day out for the family.

Racing starts at 9am on both days and Ivychurch track is off the A259 between Brenzett and Old Romney.
