EXCITIING winger Mucu, who had previously been on trial at Welling, DID play for League 2 Barnet on Tuesday, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Mucu played under his full name, Orlando Smith, for a Barnet XI during their 5-1 defeat at Farnborough.

The 20-year-old wideman was offered a contract by the Wings before the club's first pre-season friendly with Charlton last week.

But Mucu then enlisted the help of an agent and was missing from Welling's friendly with Ebbsfleet on Tuesday as he opted to try and win a deal at Barnet.

Welling player-manager Neil Smith has indicated that the deal is still on the table for Mucu but he will be keen to tie up a deal sooner rather than later.
