Welling United v Bognor

WELLING manager Neil Smith finalised his squad for this Saturday's Blue Square South opener at home to Bognor by signing nine players this week.

Smith has landed striker Omari Coleman, winger Orlando Smith, also known as Mucu, and Tony Sinclair on one-year deals.

The Wings have also completed the signings of Sam Keevil, Nick Ward, Adam Bernard, Seb Schoburgh, Kevin James, and keeper Mark Powell.

"Omari has been brilliant," said Smith. "He wasn’t fit when he came in but he has shown a great appetite.

"I have set him a couple of targets and if he reaches them then he can do well in this division.

"Tony Sinclair has been brilliant for us and wants to do well in the game, while a lot of work went into the Mucu deal so I hope he repays that."

But leaving the club is striker Steve Harper, who is joining up with Tonbridge despite being offered a contract extension with the Wings before Smith took over at Park View Road.

"I don’t think Steve was up for the fight because I wanted competition for places," added Smith. "Tonbridge is on his doorstep and he is more comfortable going there."
