Parnell lined up for Trophy debut

Kent have named new overseas recruit Wayne Parnell in a squad of 13 for the opening Friends Provident Trophy Group B tie against Somerset at Taunton on Sunday.

They hope the 19-year old South African left arm seamer, signed as a replacement for Australian Stuart Clark arrives in time to make his debut, but coach Simon Willis admits it is '50-50' at the moment.

He said: "It all depends on how things develop during the day."

Azhar Mahmood faces a late fitness test on a stomach strain, while Justin Kemp, and Rob Ferley are both added to the squad, which also includes Phil Edwards, who made his debut in the drawn game against Northants.

Loan signing Steffan Jones is ineligible to face his own county. The 50-over contest starts at 10.45am.

Kent: (from) Key (capt), Denly, Van Jaarsveld, Kemp, Stevens, G. Jones, Mahmood, Hockley, Tredwell, Ferley, Parnell, Saggers, Edwards.
