Perry injury could force Curbs’ hand

CHRIS PERRY: Could be ruled out long term
CHRIS PERRY: Could be ruled out long term

CHARLTON are being linked with out-favour Liverpool centre-back Stephane Henchoz.

The 30-year-old Swiss international is seen by manager Alan Curbishley as a solution should Chris Perry be ruled out with a long-term injury. Perry is being assessed for a hernia problem.

Curbishley said: Chris was getting sore as the game [against Manchester United] went on, that's why we took the decision to take him off at half-time. At the moment I don't know how long he'll be out for."

Henchoz played an integral part in Liverpool’s early success during Gerard Houllier’s reign, forming a formidable defensive partnership with Sami Hyypia.

However, he has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following the arrival of Rafael Benitez in the summer. He will be available on a free in the January transfer window.
