STEVE BENNETT: Only one other official has appeared at three FA Cup finals

KENT'S Steve Bennett will referee the FA Cup final on Saturday but he will be doing his utmost not to get noticed.

Bennett is making his third FA Cup final appearance when he takes charge of the battle between Manchester United and Chelsea, but his first as a referee, after previously being assistant and fourth official.

He said: "It's a huge honour to get the game. A lot of referees never get this opportunity and I'm looking forward to it.

"If I’m not involved in the match much then great, I want to stay out of it as much as possible."

Only one other referee, Graham Barber, has officiated at three FA Cup finals.

Bennett, from Orpington, added: "I'm not normally a nervous person before a game although this might be a bit different."
