NEAR neighbours Crystal Palace's visit to The Valley on Sunday might be the focal point of Charlton's week, but the stadium will also host another huge clash three days earlier.

On Thursday night, the Addicks' second string face their counterparts from Manchester United in a play-off between the champions of the north and south reserve leagues.

Glynn Snodin's side have just won the Barclays Premier Reserve League (South) for the second season in a row, a feat matched in the northern competition by Thursday's opponents.

A crowd of more than 10,000 is expected for the showdown, which kicks off at 7.30pm.

The majority of the Addicks side will be made up of the young prospects who have played regularly throughout the yea, but South African striker Shaun Bartlett could play in his first game since picking up a knee injury in the defeat against Portsmouth in April.

Newly-crowned young player of the year Lloyd Sam also looks set to return from injury, while skipper Barry Fuller will step back down to reserve level after breaking into the first-team squad in the last month.

The most well-known player in the United line-up is likely to be David Bellion, but Italian Under-19 striker Guiseppe Rossi should also warrant special attention.

Meanwhile, existing season-ticket holders who have yet to renew have one more chance to get a discount on their seat for the 2005/06 season.

The cut-off for a £50 reduction expired on May 5, but the Addicks are giving fans the opportunity to save £25 if they renew before May 31, either online or by handing in their form to The Valley ticket office.
