Garry Richards is hoping Gillingham's third consecutive win and third straight clean sheet on home turf will have visiting teams fearing the visit to Priestfield.

Richards has played a big part in all three victories and was delighted to get the winning feeling on the back of two away defeats.

“It was good as a defender to get a clean sheet and be back to winning ways,” he said. “Three points is massive to us as we lost our last two matches.

“The key to having a good season is to win your home matches and to get the backing of the fans. I feel we’ve taken a step forward in that respect and hopefully we can make this a fortress where it’s difficult for teams to come and play at this season.

“We’ll go into next week’s game full of confidence.”
