THE Invicta Dynamos have six games to hold their nerve and retain their English National Hockey League (South) title.

The Mos took a huge stride towards championship glory at the weekend after going two points clear at the top, after winning the crunch game against nearest challengers Oxford City Stars 9-2 and despatching Haringey 10-4.

Player-coach Kev Parrish said: "The whole side cannot believe what's going on. There are times when we have not played well this season, yet we are still unbeaten.

"It's very hard for a hockey team to go through a season winning all their games, so we're aware a slip-up could sneak up on us, but will try hard to make sure it doesn't happen."

This weekend is the return game for Haringey and the Greyhounds will not be relishing a visit to the Ice Bowl after losing so heavily on their own ice. Face-off is at 5.15pm on Sunday.

Parrish said: "Oxford was a very important win. Defensively we were superb. They like to play stretch hockey, where they leave one man high.

"To limit a side that regularly scores six or seven goals to just two is a testament to how well we defended all over the ice."

Parrish also spoke of the faith he has in his team and the confidence in the run up to this weekend's action.

He said: "Haringey this weekend should not be a problem. They gave us a tough game but were at home and had their full squad. You never know who they are going to bring on away trips.

"Our team is fit, except Anthony Lennon who has twisted his ankle. He has not trained this week and with harder games coming off I may well rest him this weekend."
