Gillingham manager Mark Stimson was able to ram the taunts back down the throats of certain supporters after his side came from behind to win 2-1 against Luton on Tuesday night.

Stimson admitted to getting stick from some fans at the break but it was he who had the last laugh on the night as Simeon Jackson’s double turned the game on its head.

He said: “One guy took it upon himself to tell me what he thought. I’m good at recognising people and I went back afterwards and he was still telling me I’m rubbish! I just had a bit of banter with him.

“Hopefully he comes back next week and gets behind the boys. They can give me stick, it doesn’t effect me too much, because my beliefs and confidence in my ability won’t get knocked by 5,000 people.

“We’ve had a few chaps here giving us a little bit of stick since the first day I took over.

"Unfortunately three of them don’t come anymore since the Crewe game, they said they weren’t coming anymore and what a waste of time and money it was.

“They haven’t turned up since and we haven’t done badly so if they want to stay away, stay away and just keep sending me that nice mail that you do without your address on it!”
