Tuesday night football round-up

SITTINGBOURNE went some way towards erasing the memory of the weekend's 6-2 humiliation at Stamford by earning a share of the points against Potters Bar Town on Tuesday night.

However, despite dominating for much of the game, the Brickies had James Campbell to thank for a 77th minute equaliser.

The visitors took the lead in bizarre circumstances on 13 minutes when Richard Howard's cross eluded everyone on its way into the net.

Sittingbourne laid siege to the Potters Bar goal in the second half. Kieran Marsh and Paul Ainsworth went close, and Bradley Spice hit a post, before Campbell popped up to head home after a goalmouth scramble.

Dartford built on their impressive 4-1 victory over Potters Bar Town at the weekend with a comfortable 3-1 win at home against Ilford.

However, Ryman League Division 1 leaders Tonbridge Angels crashed out of the Ryman League Cup with a 1-0 defeat to Tooting & Mitcham United at Longmead.

A 74th minute goal from Danny Twin did the damage against an understrength Angels side. Player-manager Tony Dolby made eight changes to Saturday's starting line-up.

Dover Athletic, though, found Ryman League Division 2 strugglers Wembley less testing opposition and had little trouble dispatching them 5-0 at Crabble.
