Whole new ball game for refs

FOOTBALL and cricket come head to head on Sunday when the men in black become the men in whites for a charity cricket match at Old Stacians at Kingsnorth, near Ashford

A number of top Premiership football referees including Graham Poll, Graham Barber, Steve Bennett, Jeff Winter, Mark Halsey and Rob Styles will make up a Premiership team to take on Stacians’ first team with the proceeds going to the Pilgrims Hospice.

Gates open at noon with the 40-overs-a-side game starting at 1.30pm, but there will be side attractions including the auction of premiership shirts and memorabilia footballs.

The game is being organised by Premiership officials and Stacians player Martin Yerby.
