WELLING recorded their first away win of the season after coming from behind to see off star-studded Eastleigh on Saturday.

The home side fielded former Southampton players Jason Dodd and Francis Benali but their unbeaten start to the season came to an ubrupt end.

It had started brighlty for Eastleigh, however, as they took a 14th minute lead when an error by John Guest let in Steve Forbes to drill home.

The Wings were level two minutes later when Matt Bodkin beat Benali for pace and crossed for Che Stadhart to head in.

Adrian Pennock's Welling took the lead after 21 minutes when Jamie Day's corner was only cleared as far as Des Boateng and the former Bromley midfielder drove home his first goal for the club.

The Wings completed a three-goal 16-minute spell when Day bent home a free-kick after keeper Paul Musselwhite was adjudged to have handballed in controversial circumstances.

Welling successfully saw out the second half and could have extended their lead as Boateng twice came close to scoring.

The Wings are at home to Histon on Tuesday night.
