Welling v Hayes & Yeading

WELLING manager Neil Smith has swooped for rookie Colchester striker Fabian Quintyn ahead of Saturday's home clash with Hayes & Yeading.

The 17-year-old has joined the Wings on a work experience basis and could start against Hayes at Park View Road.

Smith said: "They rate him very highly at Colchester and we're happy that they have let Fabian come to us.

"He will add pace to our attack and I'm sure he will enjoy his time with Welling."

Smith, who revealed another attacking signing fell through after the player sustained an injury in midweek, is still keen to bolster his squad.

He added: "Clubs are not letting their centre-forwards go out at the moment so we've got to be patient and wait for things to develop."

The Wings boss has called on his players to shoot on sight against Hayes on Saturday. Smith said: "We need to be positive in the attacking third and go for goals.

"The players shoot from all angles at training but now we need to translate that into games - I am demanding goals."
