CHE STADHART: injury kept him out of the squad

Eastbourne Borough 0 Welling 0

WELLING produced another polished display at Priory Lane but were left kicking themselves that they did not take all three points on Tuesday night.

The Wings comfortably secured only their second clean sheet of the season although they left their scoring boots at home as they squandered a number of good openings.

Welling were without the injured Che Stadhart, Joe Vines and Ronayne Benjamin but they started brightly and went on to dominate.

Danny Kedwell twice went close before Ellis Green's weak connection at the far post was saved by home keeper Lee Hook following Leon Solomon's teasing cross.

Welling started brightly in the second period, forcing Eastbourne back into their half for long spells. On 47 minutes, Green's clever pass set up Des Boateng, who was denied by the legs of Hook and Matt Bodkin's header from the resulting corner was then kept out.

Chris Moore headed over Jamie Day's corner when it seemed easier to score and makeshift striker Martin Carthy twice went close with headers with the home defence all at sea.

Wings boss Adrian Pennock said: "We played well and are disappointed not to get all three points. We defended well, did the right things and created plenty of chances."

New signing Ben Lewis missed the game but is expected to figure in the home Conference South clash with Sutton this Saturday.

Welling: Turner, Goodfellow, Solomon, Boateng, Moore, Perkins, Bodkin, Kedwell, Carthy, Green, Day. Subs not used: Rowland, Hyde, Guest, Edusei.

Attendance: 658.
