Morrisons at Larkfield donates two baskets of toys to the kmfm Give A Gift Christmas appeal

Customers and staff at Morrisons supermarket in Larkfield have donated two baskets of toys to the kmfm Christmas Give A Gift radio appeal.

The surprise delivery happened live on air this morning (Tuesday) (Nov 22) at the station's Medway studios.

Presenter Chelsea Little said: "This is amazing" and co-presenter Garry Wilson added: "This is so kind."

The toys, including a Harry Potter kit, a Marvel Avengers set and a Playmobil ambulance, were dropped off by the store's community champion Katy Clements.

She said: "Every year we try to find charities to support and this year we thought it would be great to link up with kmfm to work together. Hopefully, there is something for everyone here. We have been really lucky with what people have been able to give us."

She said the store itself had also donated toys and during the past year had handed over £11,000 of goods to food banks. She said: "Since Covid, the role of community champions has changed a lot. We have gone from providing the occasional raffle prize to supporting food banks."

Garry added: "The people who have donated these toys will have no idea where they will go and won't see how much they will be appreciated. These toys will change Christmas Day for lots of kids across the county."

The radio station has teamed up with Bargain Hunter UK to distribute thousands of donated toys to children in hospital or in care this Christmas.

Donations should be confirmed by this Friday (November 25) to ensure gifts can be delivered in time. For details, call 01634 227800 during the day and select "radio" or email head of broadcast Rob Wills at rwills@kmfm.co.uk

Be sure not to wrap the toys so they can be matched with a child of an appropriate age. Second-hand toys or those containing sweets cannot be accepted.

Gifts can be bought at a discount using the Bargain Hunter UK App or website and delivered to either your nearest kmfm, KM or Bargain Hunter office in Ashford, Canterbury or Medway.
