Ambulance crashes on Loose Road, Maidstone

An ambulance crashed on a busy road in Maidstone while responding to an emergency call.

Police were called to the collision, involving only the ambulance, in Loose Road, just before 7am.

The vehicle had to be recovered from outside South Borough Primary School. There were no injuries.

The A229 road out of town was closed between Sheals Crescent and Armstrong Road, causing delays.

Eyewitnesses reported that the ambulance was wedged between railings and a wall on the path, and also that another ambulance was on the scene.

The ambulance was responding to a woman who was suffering from chest pain. A new crew was assigned and treated the patient at home.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was recovered and the road reopened just before 2pm.
