Man arrested in Boxley Road, Maidstone after reportedly being seen with knife

A man has been charged after he was allegedly spotted walking down a road holding a knife.

Police were called to Boxley Road in Maidstone, at about 6pm on Saturday following a report a man was carrying a knife.

Vehicles stopped at the junction of Boxley Road and James Street at about 6.15pm.

Around nine police cars were seen along the road opposite the Esso petrol station, including an unmarked police car.

A man was arrested and taken into custody, with officers also recovering a knife.

Police have confirmed that Ross Crawford, from Boxley Road, has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Crawford, 22, has been bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on April 26.
